Shark attacks happens in Brazil

Brasil has lots and lots of beaches, all in Atlantic Ocean. There is a lot of sea life, including several species of sharks.

Sharks attacks, in general, are really rare. But there is an specific city, called Recife, that register many cases. In last 20 years more than 50 attacks have been registered, and 20 deaths ocurred – the most surfers.

There are some beaches in Recife that it is forbidden to swim or surf, like we show in the below image.

Some brazilian biologists say that the cause for this extraordinary number of cases is the construction of a port near there, the Sauipe Port. The sharks usually follow big boats, and because of this they stay near to the surfers and swimmers.

Two species are the ones who cause more attacks: Bull shark and Tiger shark. Both are considered the most aggressive sharks in the world.

Insano – World’s Largest Tobogganing happens in Brazil at Beach Park

Hello readers!! It’s Andressa and this is my first post in the blog! I hope you enjoy the things that I’ll present to you in my posts…

Brazil has the world’s largest tobogganing – “Insano” (same as Insane) is installed at the Beach Park which is located right next to “Porto de Dunas” beach. It´s a 20/30 minutes drive from downton Fortaleza, Ceará`s capital. I have spent my last vacation there and I really enjoyed the Park as much as the beaches.

This is a pic of Insano, it is 41 meters high, sliding down it is really insane!!!

The below picture shows myself (right on top of it) sliding down!!! A lot of adrenalin!!!

This is another attraction from the park – Ramubrinká. Lots of curvy tobogganing, really funny!!!

There are excellent attraction for the kids, like the ones below:

Taxi fare calculator happens in Brazil

That´s one of those things that you feel bad for being the last to know that exists, but still glad you´ve found it.

It´s a website  that let you calculate how much you will spend with a taxi run.

I`ll be in Sao Paulo within a couple of weeks and was wondering how much I was going to spend. BINGO!

I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I´ll let you know after I ride.

 UPDATE 01

After getting a quote on the website and ridding a cab, gotta confess you, it almost got  it exactly right.

  • The quote: R$32,43
  • The taximeter: R$33,50

So far, it`s approved (it relies on how bad the traffic is).

If you want to see how much you would spend in your current currency, check my Currency Exchange Rates.

First Bloggers world meeting happens in Brazil

That´s right, there will be a meeting with bloggers from all over the world, and it will happen right here, in Brazil.

I´ll try to be there and check out some of the debates which I believe will be very interesting.

  • Where:  Foz do Iguaçu.
  • When: October 27, 28 and 29.

The people behind the event have already translated the whole agenda (here), so no need for me to translate it again.

I believe one of the many important participants is Kristinn Hrafnsson, journalist and frontman for WikiLeaks.

Walls are made out of bricks

Hi there readers!

This post is to show how most of the houses in Brazil are built.

Unlike happens in the USA, where they use wood or steel frame, insulation and plywood, here we build our homes using bricks and cement.

I took the picture below this morning, it´s a building that´s happening right next to my house. I´ll update this post after they finish it, as a layer of cement will cover the bricks prior to painting the wall.

As you can imagine, this kind of building doesn’t provide much thermal insulation. Air conditioning/heating systems aren´t present on most homes, which means that we really feel outdoors climate even inside of our homes.

How does the houses are built where your live?

UPDATE 01

As I promised earlier on this post, a picture showing some more of the wall while it´s getting the cement layer.
